Baghdad: Legal action will be taken against personnel who prevented individuals from selling goods on highways. The Ministry of Interior announced that it has taken the necessary legal measures against the officers who prevented individuals from selling goods on highways.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry released a statement following the circulation of a video on social media that showed several people selling goods on highways within the Babil Governorate’s highway patrol. The video depicted officers preventing these sales in violation of regulations. In response, the Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein Al-Awadi, under the supervision of the governorate’s police chief, directed that legal measures be taken against the officers involved in the incident, and that they be detained in accordance with the law.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized its stance against negligence or violation of regulations, stating that it will pursue legal and disciplinary action against any individuals found to be negligent, without exception. The Ministry further explained that selling goods on highways is a dangerous practice that obstructs traffic and causes accidents, underlining that the law applies to everyone.
