Basra: The head of the Border Ports Authority, Omar al-Waeli, announced today the resumption of operations at the Shalamcheh border crossing following a temporary halt caused by shelling on the Iranian side. The halt lasted approximately three hours, from 2:00 to 5:00 AM, at the request of the Iranian authorities.

According to Iraqi News Agency, al-Waeli stated that the suspension was necessary to reorganize and restore order after the incident. He assured that operations have been running smoothly since 5:00 AM, with the uninterrupted arrival of pilgrims for the Arba’een of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
