Ankara: The Turkish Ministry of Defense has announced the commencement of training for its pilots on the European Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, scheduled for August. This training is part of Turkey’s broader fighter aircraft supply program.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Turkish Defense Ministry spokesman Zeki Akturk provided details in a press briefing. He stated, “As part of the Eurofighter Typhoon supply process, flight crews are scheduled to be sent to the United Kingdom next August, with flight training commencing shortly thereafter.” Akturk also mentioned that the deployment of both flight and maintenance crews to the UK will continue over the coming years, in accordance with an agreement between Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Turkey and Britain formalized their cooperation through an agreement signed in October 2025, which outlines Ankara’s acquisition of the Eurofighter Typhoon jets. The Eurofighter Typhoon is a 4.5 generation European fighter jet, designed for air superiority and precision strikes against ground targets.
