Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi announced that during his visit to Tehran, he will discuss bilateral cooperation and regional issues with senior officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Al-Zaidi stated in a post on the X platform, “We departed today for Tehran on an official visit during which we will meet with senior officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran to discuss issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation, and to consult on regional issues and efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the region.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of Iraq and Iran’s historical and cultural ties, shared geographical borders, and common interests. He highlighted the necessity of maintaining a spirit of dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect to enhance sustainable development and prosperity for the people of both countries. This approach, he noted, would also contribute to supporting security and stability at both regional and international levels.
