Ankara: The Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate, headed by Burhanettin Duran, has condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by an Israeli minister. This action, described as a "provocative incursion," was carried out by the Israeli minister alongside a group of extremists. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Duran took to the Turkish social media platform "Ins Social" to express that any attempt to violate the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is "absolutely unacceptable." He criticized the unilateral actions of the Netanyahu government, accusing it of committing genocide and attempting to undermine the historical and legal status of Jerusalem. Duran warned that such actions escalate regional tensions and undermine hopes for lasting peace. He reiterated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's stance that preserving the historical status of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque is a responsibility shared by the international community. Duran emphasized that Turkey, under Erdogan's leade rship, remains committed to defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and Jerusalem in accordance with international law. The incident involved Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who, accompanied by members of the Knesset and extremist settlers, entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem under Israeli police protection.
