Tehran: “A precedent that will inflame the situation,” warned Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in response to US President Donald Trump’s threat to use frozen Iranian assets in the United States to compensate for damage to ships in the Gulf. Araqchi criticized the move, indicating it could set a dangerous precedent and further escalate tensions between the two nations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araqchi took to the “X” platform to express his concerns, stating that seizing another country’s assets to settle unrelated claims could lead to global instability. He emphasized that normalizing confiscation practices would jeopardize the security of international assets and result in widespread chaos.

In a separate development, the Iranian army announced that it had conducted drone attacks on US military bases in Jordan and Bahrain. The attacks involved Arash drones targeting the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, reportedly hitting fuel tanks and US troop quarters. Similarly, the Azraq Air Base in Jordan was targeted, with aircraft hangars and troop quarters being struck.

The Iranian army’s statement warned that any action against Iran’s legitimate interests would have repercussions on the security and economic stability of other countries in the region. This follows President Trump’s recent threat to utilize Iran’s frozen assets in the US as compensation for ships allegedly attacked by Iran, further intensifying the already strained relations between the two countries.
