Beirut: Patriarch Mar Paul III, the newly elected Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, held discussions with Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun at the Presidential Palace in Beirut.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Aoun congratulated Patriarch Nona on his recent election and enthronement. During the meeting, President Aoun highlighted the crucial role that Christians play in the Middle East. He also addressed the significant decline in regional moderation, attributing it to the emigration of Christians caused by ongoing conflicts.
Patriarch Nona focused on the challenges faced by Iraqi Christian refugees in Lebanon, underscoring the importance of supporting these communities and ensuring their dignity and human rights are upheld. He also highlighted the significance of maintaining Lebanon's stability, referring to it as a "strategic depth" for the region.
