Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi returned to Baghdad early Friday morning after concluding his official visit to Tehran, the capital of Iran. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the visit featured a series of high-level bilateral meetings and the signing of several memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements.

During his visit, al-Zaidi met with key Iranian officials, including the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian. The discussions aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations, with al-Zaidi leading the Iraqi delegation in expanded talks with Iranian counterparts. He also held meetings with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and the Head of the Iranian Judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei.

One significant outcome of the visit was the signing of an agreement on international land freight transport, which is expected to enhance trade logistics between the countries. Additionally, the parties signed three memoranda of understanding. These included a railway link project connecting Kermanshah, Khosravi, Khanaqin, and Baghdad, a twinning agreement between the Baghdad and Tehran municipalities, and a memorandum focused on government administration and human resources training.

The agreements and memoranda signed during al-Zaidi's visit reflect a commitment to fostering closer economic and administrative collaboration between Iraq and Iran, potentially paving the way for future cooperative initiatives.
