National Security Service Arrests Cyber Extortionist in Baghdad After Luring Him into a Well-Planned Ambush

Baghdad: The National Security Service announced the arrest of an online extortionist in Baghdad after luring him into a well-planned ambush.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Service stated that its detachments, after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals, successfully arrested a suspect accused of online extortion in Baghdad. This operation was initiated following a report from one of the victims via the hotline.

The Service detailed that through meticulous intelligence monitoring, it was discovered that the suspect had been extorting a young woman and demanding money from her. The suspect was lured into a carefully planned ambush, subsequently arrested, and referred to the competent judicial authorities to face legal consequences.

The National Security Service reiterated its call for individuals to report cases of extortion via the hotline (131) or through its official platforms. They emphasized that all reports will be handled with complete confidentiality.
