Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaged in discussions regarding Iranian-American negotiations with his Qatari counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Pakistani Army Chief Syed Asim Munir. This dialogue unfolded through two separate phone calls on Sunday, as reported by sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fidan’s discussions focused on the course of negotiations between Iran and the United States. These negotiations have been significantly influenced by a memorandum of understanding signed last June, which included a ceasefire agreement. This memorandum, facilitated by mediation from Qatar and Pakistan, was intended as a preliminary step toward a comprehensive agreement to conclude the conflict.

Despite the initial progress, tensions resurfaced, leading to a renewed escalation. On July 8, the ceasefire came to an end when US President Donald Trump announced its termination, highlighting the persistent challenges in achieving lasting peace. The involvement of Qatari and Pakistani officials emphasizes the regional and international dimensions of these negotiations.
