Baghdad: The Military Intelligence Directorate has successfully seized several trucks loaded with food and industrial goods that were headed for Diyala Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Defense announced in a press release that the operation was part of its ongoing mission to safeguard economic security and prevent smuggling activities. The Intelligence and Security Department of the 1st Infantry Division, acting on precise intelligence, intercepted the smuggling attempt. The operation was initiated after receiving information that a number of trucks, carrying significant quantities of food and industrial goods from another governorate, planned to enter Diyala against existing regulations.
The Ministry's statement highlighted that specialized detachments promptly executed a well-coordinated ambush, leading to the successful capture of the trucks and their cargo. The seized goods, along with the vehicles and drivers, have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
