Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi chaired the fourth regular session of the Ministerial Council for Energy for 2026 on Sunday, attended by council members. During the session, the focus was on advancing the oil sector through innovative practices and strategic planning.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office highlighted that the council reviewed a financial study concerning the refining and distribution sectors of petroleum products. This study, prepared by the Economic Department of the Ministry of Oil, included various indicators and assessments aimed at enhancing the efficiency of sector management and elevating its performance.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need for preparing advanced models based on modern practices. This initiative intends to develop production, refining, and distribution operations, thereby maximizing revenues and improving the efficiency of resource investment. This move aligns with the government’s broader objectives to advance the energy sector and bolster its contribution to the national economy.
