Baghdad: The body of Brigadier General Faisal Kazem was recovered from the Tigris River in Diyala. The River Police Command announced the recovery today after search operations involving diving teams.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the River Police diving teams successfully located and recovered Brigadier General Faisal Kadhim’s body. The search was conducted under the direct field monitoring of the Diyala Police Chief, Major General Muhammad Kadhim Atiya, and in coordination with the River Police diving teams of the Baghdad Karkh Police Command.

The statement by the River Police Command highlighted the joint efforts that led to the recovery of the body. It also noted that all necessary legal and procedural measures have been completed in preparation for handing over the body to his family.

A security source had earlier announced last Friday the drowning incident of the military officer while swimming in the Tigris River near the town of Jadida al-Shatt, southwest of Baquba.
