Baghdad: The head of the Iraqi Teachers Syndicate, Uday Hatem Al-Issawi, met with Narmin Ezzat, representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to discuss prospects for joint cooperation in supporting the education sector and enhancing teacher development programs. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Finnish Education Conference – Baghdad Edition. During the meeting, they reviewed ways to expand cooperation between the Iraqi Teachers Syndicate and UNESCO, particularly regarding developing teacher competency, building professional capacities, and supporting initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education in line with best practices and international standards.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the head of the syndicate emphasized that the syndicate places great importance on partnerships with reputable international organizations, foremost among them UNESCO, given their significant role in supporting educational reform. He pointed out that investing in teachers is the cornerstone of advancing the educational process and building generations capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological developments.

For her part, Narmin Ezzat expressed her appreciation for the role played by the Iraqi Teachers Syndicate in supporting the educational community, emphasizing UNESCO’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the syndicate through programs and initiatives that contribute to developing the educational environment, empowering teachers, and exchanging expertise, thus serving the goals of educational development in Iraq.
