Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate has identified significant environmental violations at an unregulated waste transfer station located in the Al-Bayaa district. This discovery was made during a joint inspection with the technical department of the Central Region Environmental Protection and Improvement Directorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Baghdad Environment Director Sadiq Al-Moussawi reported that the inspection included both the Al-Bayaa model waste transfer station and an unregulated station in the same district. The findings indicated that while the model station adhered to environmental regulations, the unregulated station was found to be in violation due to its failure to comply with the necessary environmental standards.

Al-Moussawi further noted that the specialized teams have initiated regulatory and legal actions against those responsible for the violations. Additionally, efforts are being made to address and remove the encroachments, complete the necessary environmental requirements, and mitigate the negative environmental impacts. These measures aim to strengthen compliance with environmental regulations and ensure the protection of the environment in the region.
