Baghdad: A member of the Diyala Provincial Council has made a formal demand for the dissolution of the council. Diyala Provincial Council member Darya Khairallah Rashid has called upon the Speaker of Parliament to take action and dissolve the council amidst growing concerns over internal issues.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Rashid, who is also the head of the Education, Media, and Media Committee within the council, issued a statement expressing concerns over ongoing activities within the council. Rashid highlighted that while efforts are being made to investigate violations in certain departments and form audit committees to uncover facts and report them to the Integrity Commission, some council members are allegedly praising individuals involved in these violations for personal gain. Rashid further alleged that these members are attempting to shield these individuals and obstruct the committee from performing its duties, raising suspicions of undisclosed activities within the council.
