Mosul: The mayor of Mosul, Hisham al-Hashemi, announced the implementation of a field campaign targeting a number of houses that had been converted into unlicensed livestock slaughterhouses within residential neighborhoods, as part of efforts to reduce health and environmental violations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Hashemi stated that “specialized teams identified a number of violating sites and took legal action against their owners,” emphasizing that “these activities pose a danger to public health and violate applicable regulations.”

He further explained that “the campaign was carried out in coordination with supporting departments and will continue to prevent the recurrence of these violations and enforce the law,” calling on citizens to report any makeshift slaughterhouses to protect the safety of residents and the environment.
