Baghdad: The Iraqi Women Judges Association has announced its participation as one of the official sponsors for the Global Summit on Preventing the Recruitment of Children and Protecting Children Affected by Armed Conflict, which is set to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, in October 2026.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the announcement was made through a statement published on the Supreme Judicial Council website. The Association emphasized that the Summit will serve as a significant international platform for dialogue and cooperation with the United Nations on key issues, including the protection of children affected by armed conflict, prevention of child recruitment, and discussions on international humanitarian law and human rights.

The statement from the Association highlighted its role as an official sponsor, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing child protection during armed conflicts, supporting the rule of law, justice, and human rights, and fostering international judicial and legal cooperation. This involvement signifies the increasing influence of Iraqi women on international stages and the contribution of Iraqi female judges in shaping global legal dialogues and bolstering policies and legislative frameworks focused on child protection and human rights.

The Association’s initiative underscores its dedication to building collaborative efforts with international institutions and organizations, contributing actively to legal and humanitarian issues with global significance. The summit will convene a distinguished assembly of international figures, including high-level United Nations representatives, an advisor to the International Criminal Court, members of the Italian University Network, and other policymakers, international experts, and notable judicial, academic, and legal professionals from various parts of the world.
