Karbala: The Speaker of Parliament directed the Security and Defense Committee to take all necessary legal measures against Major General Anwar al-Nasrawi, the Director of the Directorate for the Protection of the Holy Shrines Area, who removed pictures of martyrs in the city of Karbala.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, MPs Alaa al-Haidari, Ahmed Shahid, and Abdullah al-Khaikani demanded during Saturday’s parliamentary session that those responsible for removing the pictures of martyred leaders from building facades in Karbala be held accountable. This demand followed the circulation of video footage earlier that day, showing security forces removing the pictures of the martyred leaders from buildings near the holy shrines. Major General Anwar al-Nasrawi justified the removal by claiming that the pictures promoted political agendas.
