Judge Zeidan Highlights Human Rights Violations in Violence Against Women


Baghdad: Judge Faiq Zaidan, the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, has reiterated the commitment to safeguarding women’s rights, stating that violence against women is a blatant violation of human rights. Speaking at the Islamic Day Conference on Combating Violence Against Women, Judge Zaidan underscored the importance of legal measures in addressing this critical issue.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Judge Zaidan emphasized the establishment of specialized courts dedicated to handling domestic violence cases. These courts are part of a coordinated effort with the Public Prosecution and community police to ensure victims receive the necessary protection. Judge Zaidan also highlighted the judiciary’s ongoing efforts to support women across various sectors, including the creation of the Arab Women Judges Network in Baghdad.
