Baghdad: The Security Media Cell announced on Saturday that more than 1.2 million pilgrims have entered Iraq since the beginning of the month of Muharram. The head of the cell, Lieutenant General Saad Maan, confirmed that “the total number of pilgrims entering Iraq from the first of Muharram until yesterday reached 1,273,758 for religious visits.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the influx of pilgrims has been facilitated by the smooth operation of all border crossings. Lieutenant General Maan emphasized that the entry process has been conducted in accordance with the approved security and service plans and procedures, ensuring an efficient and orderly passage for the large number of arrivals.
