Baghdad: The youth national team is gearing up for an important training camp in Thailand as they prepare for the upcoming AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers. The administrative director of the team, Jabbar Hashim, has confirmed that the camp is scheduled to take place next month.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hashim revealed plans for the youth team to engage in a series of friendly matches during their time in Thailand. The highlight of these matches will be a face-off against Indonesia, which is part of the final preparations for the qualifiers. The team is also set to play against Kuwait and is negotiating for a third friendly match against either Iran or Myanmar.

Hashim also mentioned that negotiations are underway with the clubs of key players Youssef Al-Nasrawi and Bhutan Amim for their release. This is necessary because the qualifiers fall outside the FIFA international match days, making player availability a potential challenge. The upcoming training camp and matches are seen as critical steps in ensuring the team’s readiness for the qualifiers.
