Baghdad: The Directorate of Military Intelligence-DMI said on Monday that it had arrested five terrorism suspects during a raid in Anbar province.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the operation was carried out under the direct supervision of the Director of Military Intelligence as part of its preemptive intelligence operations and was based on precise intelligence provided by one of its sources.

Personnel from the Intelligence and Security Section of the Seventh Infantry Division raided a house in Rawa district that had been used by Daesh criminal group before the liberation of the area. This location served as the group’s so-called “Bayt al-Mal al-Muslimeen, (Muslims’ Treasury),” which was responsible for distributing funds the group referred to as “zakat.”

The statement said five terrorism suspects occupying the house were arrested under Article 1/4 of Iraq’s Anti-Terrorism Law.

Security forces also seized cash, checks, weapons, ammunition, extremist religious books, and various food and medical supplies from the premises.

The suspects and the seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures, the directorate said.
