Baghdad: Justice Minister Khalid Shwani met with Sudanese Ambassador to Iraq, Abdul Rahim Sar Al-Khatim, to discuss finalizing the procedures for a prisoner exchange agreement between the two nations.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on strengthening judicial and legal cooperation, with an emphasis on finalizing the prisoner exchange agreement in line with applicable legal frameworks. The Ministry of Justice aims to ensure that the agreement serves the mutual interests of Iraq and Sudan.

Justice Minister Shwani reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to expanding cooperation with friendly countries through various agreements in the judicial and legal sectors. Such initiatives are intended to enhance bilateral relations and promote the common interests of both nations.

The Sudanese Ambassador expressed appreciation for Iraq’s efforts in fostering legal collaboration and highlighted Sudan’s eagerness to complete the necessary procedures for the agreement. He emphasized that the agreement would improve cooperation between Baghdad and Khartoum, benefiting both countries within their fraternal ties.

Additionally, the ambassador delivered a congratulatory message from Sudanese counterpart Abdullah Mohammed Darouf to Minister Shwani on his reappointment. The message reiterated Sudan’s commitment to strengthening judicial and legal relations, aiming to support the mutual interests of both countries’ ministries of justice.
