Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi affirmed on Monday that the government is committed to resolving the issue of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in accordance with human rights principles.

According to Iraqi News Agency, National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi received Pascal Andr©, the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Iraq. During the meeting, Andr© congratulated al-Aboudi on his new role as National Security Advisor, expressing his best wishes for success in his duties. The meeting focused on the return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of displaced persons into society, as well as the areas of support that IOM can provide in this regard.

The National Security Advisor’s media office issued a statement highlighting that discussions also revolved around the continued cooperation between Iraq and the IOM on humanitarian issues. Al-Aboudi emphasized that IOM is a key and strategic partner with the Psychological Unit at the National Security Advisory in addressing the IDP issue. He reiterated the government’s commitment, under the leadership of Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, to complete this process in alignment with established human rights principles.

Pascal Andr© expressed the organization’s support for the Iraqi government’s approach to resolving the IDP crisis. He highlighted the organization’s aspiration to maintain constructive cooperation with the Iraqi government on humanitarian matters.
