Baghdad: The Director General of the Iraqi Correctional Department, Dr. Majid Al-Mandhour, welcomed a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) at the department’s headquarters. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in humanitarian and correctional areas, with an aim to upgrade correctional institutions to meet international standards.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting addressed various issues of mutual interest, including the strengthening of humanitarian programs, development of technical cooperation mechanisms, and efforts to improve inmate services in alignment with applicable laws and international standards. Dr. Al-Mandhour reiterated the department’s commitment to deepening its partnership with the ICRC, commending the organization’s humanitarian contributions to correctional programs and technical advisement. This collaboration is seen as a crucial element in the department’s mission to foster a correctional environment that upholds human rights and inmate dignity.
