Basra: The Basra Directorate General of Education organized a workshop on “Preventing Harassment and Promoting a Safe Educational Environment” for educational coordinators in the Abu al-Khasib district. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the workshop was presented by Zainab Abdulkarim al-Tamimi, a member of the Committee for Combating Violent Extremism. This initiative is part of the broader implementation of the pillars of the National Strategy for Iraqi Women (2023-2030) and the National Strategy for Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism.

The workshop focused on defining harassment, exploring its various forms, and discussing its psychological and social effects. It also covered strategies to prevent harassment within the educational setting. The session highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of mutual respect, enhancing safe reporting mechanisms, and clarifying the responsibilities of school administrations and educational coordinators. This approach aims to raise awareness and address incidents within legal and educational frameworks, thereby contributing to a secure and supportive learning environment for all students and staff.
