Al-Atroushi Condemns Attack on Iraqi Forces, Deems It a Violation of Sovereignty

Baghdad: Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Farhad Amin Al-Atroushi, condemned on Wednesday the attack targeting Iraqi forces, emphasizing that it constitutes an unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty. "Al-Atroushi strongly condemned the attack targeting Iraqi forces, offering his condolences to the families of the martyrs," said the Deputy Speaker's media office in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Al-Atroushi affirmed that "what happened is an unacceptable violation of Iraqi sovereignty," reiterating his "rejection of any attack that threatens the security of the nation and its citizens." The Deputy Speaker also denounced the repeated attacks on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq by neighboring countries, referring to "Article 8 of the Constitution, the principle of good neighborliness."

Al-Atroushi stressed the need to keep Iraq away from the repercussions of war and conflicts in the region. He called for the federal government to study the situation, deal with this dangerous escalation, and regulate security and military decisions. He indicated that "the party constitutionally responsible for the decision of war is the government, in accordance with the constitutional powers of the Parliament."
