Baghdad: The leader of the Shiite national movement, Sayyid Muqtada al-Sadr, expressed his condemnation on Wednesday of the targeting of Iraqi lands, while calling on the government to control security and impose sovereignty.

According to Iraqi News Agency, Sayyid Al-Sadr said in a post on the (X) platform: "The land of Iraq is the land of holy sites and the capital of the school of thought of the family of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace. If this holy land is not a launching point for bombing the Islamic Republic, then the brothers in the Revolutionary Guard should not bomb our independent holy lands, and the rogue militias should not give the brothers in the Arab Gulf states an excuse to target our holy land." He called on everyone "to be imbued with the spirit of brotherhood and peace and not to be drawn into the schemes of the Zionist-American enemy to drag the brothers into fighting and conflict."

He added: "I condemn the targeting of the holy Iraqi lands by all countries and parties, and I condemn the shameless actions of the militias to drag Iraq into a pointless war," calling on the government to "control security, impose sovereignty, and work hard for the safety of the Iraqi people and their holy sites, and not to be drawn into hateful sectarian myths."

He explained that "Iraq and its people need peace, and we have had enough of a war that has drained all of Iraq's resources and dignity. Unfortunately, I also call for caution regarding dormant terrorist cells inside and outside the country, which will use sectarianism as an excuse to destabilize security in holy Iraq."

He continued: "This is an invitation of peace and reconciliation from me to all neighboring countries to live away from the rules, normalization, and the abhorrent colonial domination."
