President Nizar Amidi Advocates for Moderate Religious Discourse to Foster Tolerance and Coexistence

Baghdad: President Nizar Amidi emphasized that "moderate religious discourse promotes the values of tolerance and coexistence" during a meeting at the Peace Palace in Baghdad with a delegation from the Supreme Council of the Iraqi Fiqh Council for Senior Scholars of Da'wah and Fatwa.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Presidency announced through a press release that President Amidi highlighted the importance of moderate religious discourse in respecting diversity, enhancing societal awareness, and reinforcing the commonalities that bind Iraqis together. The President underscored the crucial role religious authorities and institutions play in supporting the value system and steering discourse toward unity and reducing causes of division and discord.

President Amidi further explained that Iraq, with its rich religious and intellectual heritage, is equipped to present a pioneering model that integrates religious values with national identity, thereby preserving societal stability and maintaining its unity.

The delegation echoed the President's sentiments, affirming that the Iraqi Fiqh Council remains committed to its scholarly and religious mission, promoting values of moderation and tolerance. They expressed appreciation for President Amidi's responsible national stances and his support for religious authorities in fulfilling their religious and societal roles.
