Riyadh: Saudi Arabia is hosting an international meeting to discuss the creation of a multinational maritime alliance. The Saudi Ministry of Defense facilitated the meeting on Thursday, focusing on the Kingdom's initiative to establish a multinational maritime defense alliance.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting saw broad participation from chiefs of staff and their representatives from 43 countries, along with the European Union delegation, either in person or via video conference. The discussions centered on the growing threats to maritime security, such as attacks on commercial vessels, energy tankers, and maritime infrastructure.

The meeting also addressed the risks these threats pose to the safety of maritime navigation, the stability of global supply chains, and the international economy. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing maritime security through international cooperation.
