Baghdad: The world had barely forgotten the FIFA scandals surrounding the 2026 World Cup when it was jolted awake by another shock from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who opened the door for the wealthy to buy the World Cup and FIFA tournaments. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Infantino presented a plan to the continental federations to grant a private company, founded by Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, a monopoly on sponsorship and advertising contracts. The plan involves establishing a company, with an initial valuation of $20 billion, to manage and operate FIFA tournaments. Under the plan, the company would purchase between 20 and 30 percent, retaining an additional 20 percent to be distributed as revenue to the continental federations. The plan appears to be an investment, but its true aim is to destroy football and seize control of FIFA's revenues. Thus, Infantino decided to sell the World Cup, the goose that lays the golden eggs, to the we althy at the expense of the game of the poor, disregarding the project's adverse consequences, as it will enable the new company to interfere in the World Cup system. A crazy plan sparked outrage across the international football community, from continental federations and football and political figures to icons and legends of the game, who leveled accusations against Infantino and launched a fierce attack against him, opposing his destructive project.
