Baghdad: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced on Thursday the destruction of three American fighter jets in an attack on the Azraq airbase in Jordan.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Revolutionary Guard addressed the Jordanian people in a statement, highlighting the impact of Jordanian cooperation and solidarity in countering what they described as an enemy presence. The statement praised the support of Jordanian elites for contributing to the effectiveness of their actions against American forces.
The statement from the Guard elaborated on their objectives, explaining that the attack on the Azraq airbase was a response to perceived American aggression. It targeted the deployment platform and maintenance hangar of F-35 fighter jets at the base. The Guard claimed that the attack resulted in the complete destruction of three F-35 jets and caused severe damage to three others. Additionally, they reported casualties among American officers and technical personnel stationed at the base.
Emphasizing their stance, the Revolutionary Guard reiterated that the region should not host forces they accuse of targeting civilians. They affirmed their commitment to resisting American military presence until it is expelled from what they consider Islamic lands.
