Baghdad: Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt affirmed on Wednesday the importance of activating the trilateral cooperation mechanism through specialized technical committees and strengthening joint coordination in the economic, investment, industrial, and energy sectors.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein's participation in the trilateral cooperation mechanism meeting held in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The meeting included the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Badr Abdel-Aty, ahead of the Arab ministerial meeting on Jerusalem.

The statement mentioned that the ministers discussed methods to strengthen the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt. They agreed to activate the mechanism through specialized technical committees and to hold regular meetings at various levels to follow up on the implementation of joint projects in the economic, investment, industrial, and energy sectors.

Furthermore, the participants explored prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on oil projects and electricity interconnection, and examined ways to expand joint cooperation in this field to contribute to economic integration and enhance energy security among the three countries.

The meeting also addressed the latest regional developments, particularly concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The participants welcomed efforts to reopen the strait as soon as possible, which would contribute to strengthening regional stability.

The participants emphasized the necessity of halting military operations, de-escalating tensions, and adopting dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve regional crises.
