Yemeni Armed Forces Target Saudi Oil Tanker ‘Wafa’ in Northern Red Sea

Yanbu: The Yemeni armed forces have confirmed targeting the Saudi oil tanker "Wafa" in the northern Red Sea with multiple ballistic missiles. This attack took place off the coast of Yanbu and resulted in a direct hit on the vessel.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced their successful targeting of the "Wafa" tanker, adding that this marks a continuation of their strategic operations in the region. Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the spokesperson for the command, emphasized in a press release that this action is part of a broader campaign against Saudi oil tankers, with eight such vessels being targeted since the onset of the maritime blockade on July 22nd.

The Yemeni military operation is reportedly part of a larger effort to disrupt Saudi oil transportation in the Red and Arabian Seas. Brigadier General Saree noted that a total of 29 Saudi oil tankers have been prevented from proceeding with their routes and have been forced to turn back, significantly impacting the oil supply routes in these waters. The ongoing maritime blockade and these targeted actions underscore the escalating tensions in the region.
