Second Drowning Incident in Diyala River as Young Man’s Body Recovered

Baquba: In the second incident of the day, the body of a young man was recovered from the Diyala River. The Diyala Police Command announced the recovery, marking another tragic occurrence on Wednesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Command stated in a press release that a team of river police divers discovered the body after conducting search operations. The young man drowned in the Diyala River within the Dar al-Salam district, located northeast of Baquba, the provincial capital.

The statement noted that the body was subsequently handed over to the forensic medicine department. Authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and avoiding swimming in unsafe areas. Earlier in the day, river police had recovered the body of another young man from Baghdad who had also drowned in the Diyala River.
