Washington: The US president has expressed opposition to Ukraine's production of Patriot missiles, indicating ongoing discussions but no agreement yet.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, US President Donald Trump has stated that Washington must "exercise extreme caution" before allowing any entity, including Ukraine, to manufacture Patriot missiles. He emphasized concerns over sharing advanced American weapons technology.

Trump described the decision as a "big step," highlighting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's interest in acquiring both Patriot and Tomahawk missiles. He reiterated the need for careful deliberation, saying, "Currently, we haven't agreed to it, but we are discussing it. However, it's difficult to grant that type of technology, and I don't think it will ever happen."

The issue gained attention following a meeting between Trump and Zelensky in Turkey last month. During this meeting, Trump initially mentioned granting Ukraine a license to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles to counter Russian strikes but later retracted his promise.
