Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed optimism that the newly introduced "Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration" bill will play a pivotal role in eradicating terrorism in Turkey.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan announced on social media that the bill, developed through comprehensive consultations, was presented to Parliament with widespread agreement. He emphasized that the bill reflects the collective desire of the Turkish populace to find a lasting solution to terrorism.
Erdogan stated, "I hope this step will yield positive results that will contribute to permanently ridding Turkey of the threat of terrorism, strengthening our national unity and solidarity, and consolidating an atmosphere of peace and stability in our country and the region."
He also expressed gratitude towards parliamentary groups and members of Parliament, particularly acknowledging Devlet Bah§eli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party and a partner in the People's Alliance, for their role in preparing and supporting the bill.
The Turkish Parliament received the "Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration" bill as part of the broader "Turkey Without Terrorism" initiative. The proposed law focuses on establishing mechanisms to defer investigations, prosecutions, and the enforcement of judgments. This would occur after security institutions verify the complete cessation of PKK/KCK activities and the surrender of all associated weapons. The Turkish National Security Council is tasked with issuing a confirmation decision, which will be published in the Official Gazette.
