Al-Zaydi Convenes Emergency Meeting to Address Regional Security Concerns

Baghdad: Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, chaired an emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss security developments in the region. During the meeting, al-Zaidi emphasized the importance of preventing any transgression or threat emanating from Iraqi territory towards neighboring countries. He advocated for the formation of a joint security committee to tackle the challenges and directed the development of deterrent mechanisms to prevent the recurrence of such incidents or any potential violations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi instructed Iraqi security forces to enforce the law, enhance security and stability, and fulfill their responsibilities in protecting sovereignty and maintaining good neighborly relations. The meeting underscored the readiness of the armed forces to thwart any attempt targeting neighboring countries within the regional sphere. Furthermore, it reiterated their firm commitment not to permit Iraqi territory to be used as a launching pad or transit route for attacks against brotherly and friendly nations, in alignment with their responsibility to uphold national sovereignty and respect the principles of good neighborliness and international law.
