Basra: The second sea voyage from the Islamic Republic of Iran docked today at the Al-Ashar port in Basra Governorate, carrying a number of pilgrims arriving to commemorate the Arba'een pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). The voyage proceeded under security, inspection, and service procedures, supervised by the Fourth Border Region Police.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a source in the Fourth Border Region Command stated that the second sea voyage from Iran was part of the plan to transport pilgrims to the holy shrines in Iraq. The source noted that the first voyage, which departed from the Iranian port of Khorramshahr to Basra, carried 48 pilgrims.

This initiative to activate river transport between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran aims to alleviate pressure on land border crossings during the peak pilgrimage season and provide additional transportation options for pilgrims.
