Amman: The foreign ministers of the Arab Ministerial Committee emphasized the necessity to confront Israeli policies aimed at altering the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem. The committee, which includes Arab states committed to international efforts against these policies, convened in Amman to express a united stance against the ongoing situation in Jerusalem, specifically concerning the holy sites. According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the meeting also saw participation from the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and foreign ministers from Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia. Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, highlighted the violations by Israel at the holy sites and the restriction of religious freedom, asserting that sovereignty over occupied land does not belong to an occupier. Safadi called for the international community to take definitive action to halt these violations. Palestinian Foreign Minister Farsin Ag habekian Shahin noted the critical stage Jerusalem faces due to Israeli targeting, alongside the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the expansion of settlements. She called for a collective rescue plan with practical measures to protect Jerusalem's identity and support Palestinian resilience. Shahin criticized the lack of accountability for Israel's longstanding policies of land annexation and settlement expansion. The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, warned of the threats to Jerusalem's status and the potential for a religious conflict due to Israeli occupation policies. Fahmy urged for a diplomatic and legal campaign to expose these plans and prevent further escalation. Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and other ministers, including those from Pakistan, Algeria, and Tunisia, echoed the need for decisive international action against Israeli violations. They stressed the importance of protecting Palestinian rights and supporting the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem. The conse nsus underscores a call for urgent international intervention, emphasizing the collective responsibility to safeguard Jerusalem's historical and legal status and the rights of the Palestinian people.
