Nasiriyah: The Supreme Judicial Council announced on Friday the arrest of several employees of the Nasiriyah Municipality and their associates in possession of forged documents and seals.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Supreme Judicial Council indicated that "the Presidency of the Dhi Qar Court of Appeals was able to arrest a number of Nasiriyah Municipality employees and their associates, in possession of seals, books, and records pertaining to residential land plots, in addition to forged powers of attorney and documents." The statement explained that "the arrest operation was carried out under the direct supervision of the Integrity Investigation Court judge and a member of the Public Prosecution at the Dhi Qar Court of Appeals, and was executed by the Integrity Commission's Investigations Office in Dhi Qar, with support from the governorate's Intelligence Directorate. The operation also resulted in the seizure of communication devices and weapons in the possession of the accused."
According to the statement, the presiding judge said that "the court has taken the necessary legal measures against the accused, and their statements have been recorded judicially in preparation for referring them to the competent court for trial in accordance with the law."
