Ankara: The Turkish Football Federation has announced that the 2026-2027 Super League season will carry the name of Adnan Suvari, honoring the former coach's significant contributions to Turkish football. This decision is part of the federation's tradition of naming seasons after influential figures in the sport.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the federation's board of directors revealed their decision on Monday, stating that the season will be officially titled the "Trendyol Turkish Super League - Adnan Suvari Season." This initiative aims to commemorate coaches and players who have made lasting impacts on Turkish football.

Adnan Suvari, born in Aydin in 1926, began his coaching journey at Karsiyaka Sports Club and later achieved historic milestones with G¶ztepe. He led the team to the semi-finals of the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in the 1968-1969 season and to the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in the 1969-1970 season. These achievements made him the first coach to guide a Turkish club to the semi-finals of a European competition.

Suvari also led G¶ztepe to secure two Turkish Cups and a Presidential Cup. Furthermore, he served as the national team coach between 1966 and 1968 while maintaining his responsibilities with G¶ztepe. His dedication extended to various roles within the Turkish Football Federation, including board membership and vice-presidency.

The upcoming season is set to begin on August 14th with a match between reigning champions Galatasaray and newly promoted €¡orum FK. The league will conclude on May 23rd, 2027.
