Fire Erupts in Karrada Commercial Building Prompting Major Evacuation Effort

Baghdad: A fire broke out in a commercial building in the Karrada district of central Baghdad, prompting rapid emergency response efforts. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Civil Defense Directorate announced the incident and detailed the efforts made by rescue teams to manage the situation.

The directorate stated that Civil Defense teams successfully evacuated and rescued 50 citizens and managed to extinguish the large fire without any casualties. The fire resulted in significant smoke and gas emissions, which posed a threat to a nearby residential building, leading to an urgent mobilization of resources.

The intervention included 10 fully equipped firefighting and rescue teams, along with a hydraulic ladder truck, to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. The statement highlighted the high professionalism and speed of the rescue and assault teams, who evacuated trapped individuals, including two people from the top of a communications tower on the building's roof.
