Babylon: The University of Babylon recently convened a meeting to explore mechanisms for developing archaeological tourism in Iraq. The meeting was attended by the university president, a representative from the Prime Minister's office, several deans from archaeology and tourism colleges across Iraqi universities, and the Babylon Antiquities and Heritage Inspector.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions focused on advancing the archaeological tourism sector and strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and government agencies responsible for antiquities and heritage. The goal is to invest in and develop archaeological and heritage sites using modern scientific and tourism principles.

The meeting also highlighted the need to leverage academic and specialized expertise in formulating strategies that foster the growth of archaeological tourism. The participants underscored the importance of promoting awareness of Iraq's cultural heritage and enhancing the country's position on the cultural and archaeological tourism map.

Additionally, attendees stressed the significance of ongoing coordination between universities, government institutions, and the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage. This collaboration is seen as essential to the successful rehabilitation and promotion of archaeological sites in Iraq.
