Baghdad: Dhi Qar Criminal Court on Sunday sentenced two convicted men to 10 years in prison for impersonating an adviser to the president of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council-SJC said in a statement that the court sentenced the two men to 10 years for impersonating an adviser to the President of the Supreme Judicial Council. The two men exploited the false identity to obtain money from a citizen, the complainant, in exchange for falsely promising to secure the release of his brother, who had been sentenced under Article 28, first, of the Law on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.

The court issued the sentence under Decision No. 160/First/1 of 1983, as amended, and pursuant to Articles 47, 48 and 49 of the same decision.
