Basra: The Basra Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances announced the execution of a series of high-profile security operations during the month of July, resulting in the arrest of 119 suspects and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate stated in a press release: “The operations resulted in the seizure of approximately 8.5 kg of various narcotics, in addition to more than 3,000 psychotropic pills, and the dismantling of 14 networks specializing in the trade and distribution of narcotics.”
The Directorate emphasized that “these operations are part of ongoing security efforts to pursue drug dealers and traffickers and to eradicate the sources of this scourge,” noting that the suspects have been referred to the judiciary to take legal action against them in accordance with the law.
