Baghdad: The Baghdad Environment Directorate has issued warnings to two plastic recycling plants situated in the Al-Shu’la agricultural area for breaching environmental regulations and failing to comply with specified environmental requirements. This move is part of the directorate’s ongoing monitoring efforts to reduce the environmental impact on nearby residential communities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the warnings were issued following a field inspection carried out by a team from the Industrial Activities Monitoring Division, in collaboration with the Al-Karkh Environmental Police. The two plants have been formally notified of the violations, and ongoing monitoring will ensure that the issues are addressed and operations brought into compliance with environmental standards.

Sadiq Al-Moussawi, the Director of the Baghdad Environment Directorate, has confirmed that the monitoring teams will persist in overseeing industrial activities to ensure adherence to environmental regulations. He stressed the importance of eliminating violations and meeting environmental standards as mandated by current legislation.
