Aleppo: Turkish forces have withdrawn from the village of Jalbara (Jalbal) in the Afrin countryside, ending an eight-year deployment that had transformed the area into a military base and prevented the return of its residents.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the evacuation of Turkish military presence has led to the arrival of Syrian security forces, who have commenced operations to clear the village of mines and remnants of war. This crucial step is aimed at ensuring the safety of the area, which had seen a significant portion of its 70 homes suffer either total or partial destruction due to persistent shelling and fighting.

The departure of Turkish troops marks a significant change for the village, which had been a front line in ongoing conflicts. With the military withdrawal, there is renewed hope among the displaced residents for a safe return to their homes. However, the presence of potentially deadly mines necessitates thorough clearance operations to prevent further casualties and allow for the safe resettlement of the village’s original inhabitants.
