Najaf: The Najaf Criminal Court, which focuses on integrity cases, has handed down three six-year prison sentences to an individual convicted of impersonating an employee from the Office of the President of the Supreme Judicial Council. This individual also falsely claimed to be associated with the Central Anti-Corruption Committee of the Council of Ministers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Supreme Judicial Council released a statement detailing how the defendant used a fraudulent identity to solicit money by promising to overturn legal proceedings for individuals convicted of corruption. The court’s decision was grounded in the provisions of Articles 1/1 and 2 of Resolution No. 160 of 1983.
